PRE-ADVICE FOR DERMAL FILLERS/SKIN BOOSTERS/ANTI WRINKLE INJECTION (BOTOX)
-
NUMBING: Optional-If you like to be super numbed up: I would recommend coming to your appointment numbed up to my clinic and applying the numbing cream for 30 to 45 minutes before your appointment; when left for longer, numbness is more effective. I recommend LMX4 or Emla cream 5%; both can be purchased from any chemist or Superdrug online store. *Please apply generously, do your first layer and reapply the second, so it's thick, not thin! If applied too thin the numbing cream won't be as effective. If not applied I can apply numbing but will be only for 10/15 minutes (only applies to having filler treatment)
-
Avoid all pain relief and vitamins for 24 hours before treatment.
-
No caffeine or alcohol for 24 hours before treatment.
-
If on Antibiotics, please let me know.
-
Do not work out on the day of your treatment.
-
Please note if you suffer from cold sores, I recommend taking antiviral drugs from your GP or Superdrug Pharmacy, as the needle stimulation can cause a breakout; I can’t perform the treatment if you have a breakout so please inform me if this happens (only applies to lip filler treatment).
AFTERCARE FOR DERMAL FILLERS
-
PLEASE BARE in mind fillers, when first done, will feel stiff and hard, don’t worry, this is normal! This will take 4-6 weeks to settle, and then will feel soft and firm, so do not worry! And PLEASE BARE in mind that they will also feel sore and tender for up to a week; this is also normal!
-
Avoid applying makeup to the treated area for 24 hours (this is especially important for the lips).
-
Also avoid alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen anything that’s blood thinners, this can increase swelling, and bruising will come out more for 24 hours.
-
Avoid high temperatures like steam rooms, saunas, or heated exercise classes for 48 hours.
-
If bruising occurs, apply arnica cream to the treatment area, and apply a cold compress to help reduce this (make sure it’s covered/wrapped). If you don’t have a cold compress, ice is fine but make sure it’s covered/wrapped up, do not use ice straight to the treated area as this can freeze the filler and cause it to set and end up with a lump!
-
If you have had cold sores in the past, there is a risk that the needle punctures can cause another eruption (tablets or cream are available to help resolve this)
-
The swelling may remain for up to two weeks, and the other symptoms usually settle more quickly.
-
After lip-enhancing injections, the swelling can persist for a week or more. During this time the lips can look uneven so it is important to understand that the result immediately after injection will not always be the final result.
-
Please bear in mind some sometimes multiple treatments may be needed to build your desired look; this is to be done within 3-6 weeks after your first treatment, sometimes your body can reject the first time, so building up your filler is advisable, especially if you are new to fillers (Remember Rome wasn’t built in a day)
-
Drinking plenty of water is advisable as hyaluronic acid attracts water and prolongs longevity.
-
keeping out of sun/UV light also prolongs longevity.
-
Hyaluronic filler treatments may last from 4 to 12 months, depending on the area treated, age, skin type, lifestyle, metabolism, and muscle activity.
-
Lumps can occasionally occur when the dermal filler absorbs water from the body and swells. These will subside when they settle after weeks of healing.
-
Please contact me if you have any severe pain/skin mottling/bruising that spreads/feels cold to touch normally when skin is blanching; this may be a sign of a Vascular Occlusion, as this will need to be dissolved. I have an emergency kit in case this ever occurs.
BOTOX AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS
-
No strenuous exercise for 24 hours after treatment.
-
Avoid any massage, pressure, or touching of the treatment area(s) for 4 hours.
-
PLEASE remember results can take up to 14 days.
-
Avoid the sun and sunbeds for 24 hours.
-
Some swelling, redness, discomfort, and bruising can appear in the days after your treatment. This will resolve after a couple of days to a week after treatment. Do not hesitate to contact me for advice.
-
-
Taking Zinc supplements daily can help strengthen Botox (please consult your GP if you are on other medication to ensure it is okay to take with it).
-
To keep up with your Botox for optimum results, it is recommended to have the treatment done every 12 weeks for best results.
-
PLEASE be aware if required review/top-up must be done within 2-3 weeks, no LONGER; if this isn’t done within the time frame, the treatment will be charged at full price, will need to wait and come back at 12 weeks when you are due. All Botox bottles are discarded at three weeks. Top-ups incur a charge if required of £30.
